Air filtration, along with gas absorption by liquid, offers an efficient method of air purification. GREENBMG's air purifier uses air filters that have been applied extensively to separate particles of nanometer and micrometer dimensions. However, to absorb aerosol particles including viruses and toxic gases such as CO, SOx, and NOx, a liquid medium is required. Absorption is accomplished by bringing the polluted air mixture into contact with a liquid such as water using a solid medium called packing. In conventional absorption columns or scrubbers, because the packing is not porous, large packing volumes are necessary to provide the required liquid-air interface area and to reach acceptable levels of purification. Our innovation is comprised of a new generation of regularly shaped porous packing that has been fabricated and developed by the G-BMG company. By controlling the packings’ porosity during the packing fabrication step, the gas pressure drop across the packing can be controlled, and a high level of purification can be achieved. The proposed solution of G-BMG is a compact porous packing wet air purifier apparatus. Purification is composed of two steps. Filtering polluted air by means of glass bead filters and subsequent absorption of fumes and green gases by compact absorption column.
